The Umbrella Owner
Grammar in this story
On a rainy day, Sister Lin finds a black umbrella on Train 17.
Three passengers say at the same time, “That is mine!”
The first says, “My umbrella has a white line underneath.”
The second says, “Mine has a small hole on top.”
The third says, “Mine has blue tape on the handle.”
Sister Lin looks, and the umbrella has all three things.
Everyone is quiet for a moment.
It turns out the umbrella had been forgotten on the train three times and repaired by them three times.
In the end, they decide to leave “ours” on the train, for whoever needs it when it rains.
