The Repair Club Opens
Grammar in this story
The Lantern Lane Repair Club finally opens officially.
Xiao An and Uncle Chen open the door half an hour early, and a long queue has already formed outside.
The first neighbor brings a lamp, but it is not broken.
He says he only wants to sit for a while and cook for everyone.
The second neighbor’s radio works too, but she stays and chats for an hour.
By noon, there are only three broken things on the table but twenty people in the room.
Xiao An asks worriedly, “Can everyone not find another place to meet?”
Uncle Chen laughs and says, “They did not come to repair objects. They came to repair neighborly relationships.”
That afternoon, Xiao An adds a small sign at the door: repairs welcome, and sitting for a while is welcome too.
The repair club does not earn much on its first day, but keeps its door open for a full twelve hours.
