The Box That Would Not Fit
Grammar in this story
Xiao Zhao has just said she should worry less about deliveries when a huge box arrives at the gate.
The courier tries three times, but still cannot put the box into the largest locker.
Neighbors gather around, and someone says one person cannot lift this kind of box.
Xiao Zhao looks at the old tape on the corner and can immediately tell it has already been opened.
She tells everyone not to rush, saying the box is big but should be possible to open.
Inside there is no furniture, only a folding table marked for the repair club.
After the table is folded, everyone realizes it can fit into the small storage room beside the lockers.
It turns out property management wanted to hold a tool-swap day for neighbors but forgot to notify her.
Xiao Zhao flattens the cardboard box and tapes it to the wall as a temporary poster.
She sighs, “This case can be solved, but I still cannot rest.”
