First the Stamp, Then the Sea

Grammar in this story

1 concepts

Ahai and Xiaowen decide to make a postcard belonging to the whole island.

They first ask the lighthouse keeper to draw the sky, then ask the bus driver to draw the road.

Next, they first go to the market for a stamp, then to the pier for the captain’s signature.

Everyone leaves a small piece of the island on the card.

Finally, the mail carrier asks whom they will send it to.

The two think for a long time but still cannot write a recipient.

The mail carrier laughs and says, “First put on the stamp, then take your time thinking.”

The next day, the postcard appears at the post-office entrance.

It says, “For the people who are always helping others find stories.”

Ahai and Xiaowen first look at each other, then together toward the sea.
