Building Three has always been the quietest building in the compound.

But this morning, it is not as quiet as yesterday.

Violin music comes from the hallway, and the heating pipes seem to join in.

The property manager goes upstairs to inspect and finds the second floor is not as noisy as the first.

The third floor is not as quiet as the second, but the fourth floor is loudest.

He opens the activity room door and sees an elderly man and a child.

The child is practicing violin, and the elderly man has just put on a new hearing aid.

The man laughs and says, “It turns out our building has never been as quiet as I thought.”

That afternoon, neighbors bring chairs and sit outside the door to listen to the child practice.

Building Three is livelier than before, but not as lonely.
