为了 introduces the purpose or goal behind an action.
It is close to “for,” “for the sake of,” or “in order to.”
How it works
The purpose usually comes first, then the action done to reach that purpose:
为了 + purpose, actionThe purpose can be a noun, event, or verb phrase.
Usage boundary
为了 explains motivation. It is not just a general marker for every English “for.” Use it when the second part is done because of the goal in the first part.
